After discovering the magic of images while making photograms in our family kitchen with my father, I built a black and white darkroom in the basement of my home at age 14. Shooting a wide variety of subjects in the following years, I created a book of black and white photographs of children and childrenʼs poetry while in high school. Later years brought experience with film-based technical photography for field and laboratory geologic research.
My photography interests were reenergized with the emergence of digital technology. Beginning in 1997, I scanned color negatives into digital formats and printed my early work on the first Epson Stylus photographic inkjet printer. With a passion for wild places, my fine art photography now focuses on mountain landscapes, birds and the American Southwest. My project photography focuses on a broad variety of subjects. Photography has become a vehicle for exploring and seeing the world through different eyes.
I currently serve on the Board of Directors of the Professional Photographers of America, New Mexico. In 2012, I served as a judge for the Annual New Mexico Photographic Art Show, and in 2013 received the Print Fellow Award from the Professional Photographers of America, New Mexico.
